As part of Everyday Democracy’s first investment in the Strong Starts for Children Initiative in New Mexico, the Family Development Program in collaboration with Decade of the Child (a statewide early childhood advocacy coalition) gave leadership to a project in Albuquerque known as “Launching the Decade of the Child: Strong Starts for our Children.” This project engaged traditionally marginalized people such as teen parents, immigrant families, school parents, and other community members in different neighborhoods of Albuquerque to talk and act together to support children’s growth and development.
